Linda Reid Tarpy was born in Motherwell, Scotland. She started dancing at the age of 3 under the direction of her mother, Marguerite Reid, who also happened to be one of the most respected teachers of Scottish Highland Dancing in the world. Linda began competing at the age of 4 traveling throughout the United States, Canada and Scotland. At the age of 8 she won the Ontario Championship, an honor not achieved by another American for 30 more years. Linda began teaching with her mother at the age of 18 and did most of the event and show planning for the Reid School from that time onward. The school has produced many champion dancers, most of whom have gone on to become notable Highland Dance teachers and judges.

One of the major highlights for the school was dancing for Sean Connery, guest of honor at the Kennedy Center Honors Gala in 1999. Many celebrities and dignitaries, including President and Mrs. Clinton, were present for this program that was televised throughout North America.

Linda is a member of the B.A.T.D (British Association of Teachers of Dance) and serves as the current Atlantic Seaboard Secretary. She also is Director of the Marguerite Reid Memorial Highland Dance Workshop, formerly known as the Delco Workshop, one of the world’s most recognized Scottish dance workshops, and Director of the Reid School of Highland Dance.

Linda’s passion for dance and care for her students is evident in this statement often repeated, “I want you to dance the best that you can dance.” Linda is married and has three sons.

Brandie Reid was born and raised in Philadelphia, PA. She began dancing at the age of 3 under the direction of her grandmother, Marguerite Reid. Brandie has traveled throughout the United States and Canada competing in numerous competitions and championships. She has competed in eight Eastern Regional Championships and qualified for the United States Inter-Regional Championships six times, one of which she was named Eastern United States Champion. She was honored to dance with the Reid School for Sean Connery, guest of honor at the Kennedy Center Honors Gala in 1999.

Brandie completed her Highland Dance teacher’s certification through the British Association of Teachers of Dance at the age of 16 and started teaching with her grandmother and aunt, Linda Reid Tarpy. She is also one of the Co-Directors of the Marguerite Reid Memorial Workshop, coordinating registration for the entire event.
Brandie continues with her passion to dance not just by teaching but also participating in performances with the school. She resides in Northeast Philadelphia where she takes care of her nephew.
